Jiacheng thesis and new lab members!

Congratulations to Jiacheng Hao who completed his Master by Research degree (MSrC) at The University of Edinburgh, with a thesis titled “The effect of top-down processing on saccadic inhibition”. Jiacheng did an amazing experimental work testing how saccadic inhibition (the reduction is saccade frequency quickly following any transient onset) is modulated by the semantic of visual transients. Despite being such an automatic effect, saccadic inhibition is permeable to the content of the images, with participants showing stronger signs of inhibition for semantic versus control (i.e. noise) stimuli. Jiacheng is now looking to start a Ph.D wich I’m sure he will pursuit with excellent results!

For one Master student that finish his thesis, two new Master students join the lab! We welcome Maria Cuomo and Giuseppe Canuso that are starting their internship period, studying effects of spatial frequency, holistic processing and task dependency on perceptual categorization. Stay tuned because these projects will be very interesting!
